Before We Get Started:
........
Megabyte Village was created way back in the early months of 1995 when the digimon craze was just beginning to leak into the American and Canadian anime circle. Pocket Monster, or "Pokemon" role play boards were many and scattered around the internet practically around every corner. If those role plays could be popular why couldn't Digimon? With that in mind the board started its way forward with only a select few members, but as the popularity of the show grew, so did the MBV.

It began to pop up on search engines and Anipike.com. Before we knew it we had over 500 members who role played with us, making Megabyte Village practically the largest Digimon interactive role playing forum known on the internet.

Welcome to MBV.

"Who Runs Megabyte Village?"
.....
The current administrator and also the original creator of the board is Rachel, also known as Skittle Sama in the forums. An anime artist and fanfiction writer. She loves Jazz music and is studying to become a music teacher.

Our head moderator is Damien. He plays Matt Ishida on the forums as well as some of his other well known characters such as Darien and Trent. He attends college in London and is currently studying music performance.

Our 2nd moderator is Cait, you know her as Jennacy on the forums. She is also one of the webmasters of our affiliate site, Kumbayah.com.

Normally, any problems, concerns, or comments come to one of us.

"Do I have to be a member to post?"
....
Megabyte Village isn't a strict community like other forums and boards, but we do require you to register before you are able to join in on our discussions and role play with us. During the first few years of its life, we never had much of a problem with annonymous users posting. But as they say, "One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch.".

But it's a simple process. If you're not familiar with EZboard, just click here to register a username. Follow the easy instructions on what to do and you're in! So go and introduce yourself to us all and have a good time.

"Everyone has a picture. Where can I get one?"
...
Many of the members get their character's picture from sites such as Tinami.com. This site is in Japanese, so you'll need to have Japanese text support on your internet browser to view it correctly.

If you can't read Japanese, other free graphics sites in English provide pictures and icons especially for EZboard. Such as sites like DayDreamGraphics.com.

"I posted but no one is replying!"
...
First off, please be aware that forums are message boards. They do not have the speed of an internet chatroom so the responses will take longer. Members who have been on the board for quite some time could tell you that sometimes it even takes other members a couple of days sometimes to reply to their topics. This is normal, just have a little patience.

Second of all, it's usually a good idea if you introduce yourself in the OOC Forum and write out a profile for your character in the Profile Forum before joining in. It lets others know who you are and a little bit about your character.

Signatures and Personal Tags
..
Normally, we try to keep the signatures and personal tags short and the images small so that they don't distort the layout of the site. This can cause trouble with loading and the look that was intended for MBV. Usually if we find an image that is too large, the administrator or one of the moderators will edit your post and remove the picture.

Do not type any text in your signature or personal tag that could be offensive to others or the general public. This includes graphic depictions, rape, racism, and explicit sexual content.

Do not include any images in your signature or personal tag that show graphic nudity, hentai, racist slang, or offensive content that is over a rating of PG-13.

Do not advertise your role playing board, message board, or online chat in your signature or personal tag. This includes text links and image buttons.

However:

You may include a link to your personal website or journal.

You may include small images. Preferably something in the range of 300x300 pixels.

Content Ratings
..
If you'll notice at the top of Megabyte Village there's a warning:

"This Digimon Role Play board has been given a PG-13 rating. Password Protected Forums are above for language, violence, and content."

Simply put, the content of these forums are aimed towards young teen to mature teen audiences. In the public forums it may depict strong violence, mild profanity, and intense situations.

Password Protected Forums such as the DSL Underground and especially The Firewall may contain graphic depictions of sexual situations, hentai, yaoi, extremely graphic violence and profanity.

"Why can't I get into Password Protected Forums?"
..
Hence the title password protected, these forums are locked under a password key for content reasons (see question above). All forum moderators and administrators have access to this forum as well as a number of members.

To gain access to these forums you may do the following:

1. Send the administrator an e-mail asking permission to enter. In this e-mail you must decribe to the administrator why you deserve to gain access to these forums.

2. Ask youself, "Am I mature enough to handle it?". Again, these forums contain hentai, yaoi, graphic themes for mature role players and audiences.

3. Before the administrator grants you the password to enter, she will do a background check of your role plays on the board. Have you obided all the rules and regulations? Have you ever been banned? Put on probation? If your background content is clean, then you will most likely get your hands on that password. If not, you might as well forget the idea now.

4. We have a trust with our members that if you receive this password, you will not give it out to friends or other members who have not requested permission from the administrator. We can see who has accessed, viewed, and posted in these forums and we will ban users from the board if this happens. Your best bet is to keep it to yourself and not risk the chance of being banned.

The Cyberia Cafe
..
Fan artwork, anime artwork, original characters and sketches ... any art form is appreciated here and you may post up your artwork for review.

However:

Do not post any artwork with nudity, offensive slang, racism themes, etc. These will be removed immediately and result in your username being watched under a strict probation.

Do not post anyone else's work but your own. If you did not draw it, do not display it.

Do not steal others' artwork! We cannot stress this enough. there are many people on the internet who will steal someone else's artwork and claim it as their own. If this is found we will alert the original creator and put your username under probation.

Penny Thing Crossroads :: Ratings
..
Like with The Cyberia Cafe, all forms of fan fiction and original stories can be typed and displayed here for review. With any story that is posted, we ask that you put a rating in your topic header:

PG: Acceptable to all readers. Mild content.
PG-13: Teen audiences. Strong content, mild language.
R: Mature audiences. Strong profanity, content, violence.
H: Hentai. Mature audiences only. Viewer discretion advised. Explicit sexual content.

Do not post offensive hentai, yaoi, or intense content. We define "offensive" as crude and obnoxious; using slang terms that are rude, distasteful, and very disrespectful.

You may post non-offensive hentai, yaoi, and mature content as long as you post a disclaimer in your topic header.

Bannishment and Probation
..
The big question: "What will get me banned and/or put on probation?". The answer is a very simple one.

In terms of probation, your username will be watched by our moderators for a period of 5 weeks. Within these 5 weeks, your user title will display [probation], and every post you make to Megabyte Village will be checked and rechecked, making sure there is no profanity, crude content, etc. If this occurs twice after a probational warning, than you will be permanently banned from posting on Megabyte Village again.

Situations that might put your username into probation would be posting nudity and stolen fan art in The Cyberia Cafe, plagerizing someone else's fan fiction and posting it up in Penny Thing Crossroads, harassing other board players, and threats.

We have no tolerance for these circumstances and you will get no warning of probation from the administrator beforehand.

Bannishment will only result in two warnings of misconduct while during your 5 week probation or giving out the password of the Password Protected Forums to other members. Bannishment from Megabyte Village is permanent and you will not be aloud to post again.

Conduct and Respect
...
We take the concept of respect very highly at MBV. By which we mean that this is the most strict rules that we have our members follow.

We will not tolerate any form of harassment, verbal threat, or rude comment and/or post about another member. This is strictly forbidden. Megabyte Village is a player friendly community in which every member gets to play their part without the disrespectful remarks of others.

If any sign of this is discovered, the member at hand will immediately be put on strict probation.

Has there been something going on (harassment, comments, fights) that we haven't heard of? Please report them so that we may take care of the problem. Thank you.

"I'm new to the board. What did they just say?"

New Schooler
Members who are not new to the board, but were not around in 1995.

MBV
(You should already know this) Short hand for "Megabyte Village".

OOC
Stands for "Out of Character". This usually means that they are chatting or are not role playing.

IC or BIC
"In character" or "Back in Character". They are currently role playing.

Sticky
"Sticky Post". A post that is set by an Admin. or Mod. to stay at the top of a forum.
